Senior Naval Officer Fatally Stabbed by Phone Snatcher in Kaduna

Lieutenant Commodore M. Buba, a senior naval officer, was stabbed to death in Kaduna during an attempted robbery. The incident occurred near Kawo Bridge when the officer, who was attending a course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, stopped to fix a flat tyre.

According to eyewitnesses, a hoodlum approached him, demanding his phone and other valuables. When the officer refused and questioned the demand, he was stabbed in the chest with a local knife.

A local vigilante, Suleiman Dahiru, who attempted to intervene, was also stabbed in the hand. The assailant was eventually overpowered and lynched by bystanders.

The officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival. His body was later taken to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital mortuary.

Security agencies, including plainclothes troops and police, have been deployed for covert operations targeting criminal elements around bus stops and high-risk areas in Kaduna Metropolis.

The Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate. He stated that efforts are ongoing to improve security across the state.
